It has already been a week since I returned home.
I did not realize time could move this quickly again.
Perhaps because Ryn is here.
I do not regret allowing her to come with me.
Though honestly, at first, it was mostly to reduce travel expenses.
Still.
Having her here feels strangely natural now.
Ryn seems genuinely impressed by this island.
Personally, I think Isla De La Luna is just… normal.
The buildings are old.
The stone streets are uneven.
Most houses have existed longer than some kingdoms.
The academy walls are covered in moss and salt from the sea wind.
But wealthy people always seem to enjoy things they call “classic.”
I still prefer Port Roderick.
It had better snacks.
When I introduced Ryn to Father and Mother, they seemed happy.
I think they were simply relieved I finally brought home a friend.
Father especially looked strangely calm after hearing Ryn’s family name.
Which is odd.
I do not think he fully understands how absurdly wealthy the Rodericks actually are.
Or perhaps he does.
With Father, it is difficult to tell.
I have also been showing Ryn around the island.
She became curious about the supply posts where we freely collect necessities.
I tried explaining how they worked, but halfway through I realized I did not actually understand the system myself.
Ryn looked deeply concerned after my explanation.
I think I will ask Father later.
Yesterday, I brought her to meet my writing master.
Master Root startled her quite badly.
To be fair, it is difficult not to panic when an old tree suddenly opens glowing eyes directly beside you.
Ryn grabbed my shoulder so quickly I almost fell over.
Meanwhile Master Root simply stared at her in silence for nearly a full minute before saying:
“So this is the loud one.”
Ryn looked personally betrayed.
I laughed so hard my stomach hurt.
I also introduced her to Eis, Weis, and Heist near the lake.
They seemed to like her immediately.
At one point they asked if I had brought them a new friend to live underwater with them.
I told them Ryn could not stay underwater long enough.
Eis said that was fine because they could simply turn her into an undine too.
They sounded completely serious.
I had to explain carefully that humans are generally not supposed to become water spirits.
Especially not heirs of merchant families.
The three of them seemed disappointed.
To apologize, I read stories for them until sunset.
Ryn adapts surprisingly well to this island.
Honestly, better than I expected.
The children here already adore her.
Earlier today they attacked us with philosophical questions again.
One of them asked whether money could buy happiness.
Ryn looked extremely interested in my answer for some reason.
After I finished speaking, she smiled proudly and nodded several times like I had accomplished something incredible.
As expected from the heir of the Roderick family.
Even her reactions have class.
Tomorrow, I plan to bring her to the academy.
I think she will enjoy it there.
The old towers look beautiful near sunset.
Besides, she may stay here for another month.
I should enjoy this while I can.
Without realizing it, I think I already am.
