A young girl sat alone in a sea of red lycoris.
Her body was nothing but bone and skin—starved.
Yet she did not move.
She hummed softly—
a melody she had never learned, yet somehow knew.
—
A young boy approached.
He carried a plate of food and placed it gently before her.
He said nothing.
He knelt… and prayed.
Then he stood, turned, and walked away.
The girl did not touch the food.
Slowly, it rotted…
and turned into dirt.
—
An old man came next.
He brought fruit.
He placed it before her, knelt, and began to cry.
Tears fell, but no words followed.
After a while, he stood…
and left.
The girl did not touch the fruit.
It rotted…
and turned into dirt.
—
An old woman came, with children by her side.
They carried a cup of wine.
They smiled gently, placed it before her, and knelt together.
They prayed in silence.
Then they stood, bowed…
and walked away.
The girl did not touch the wine.
It rotted…
and turned into dirt.
—
Time passed.
A teenage girl arrived.
She brought apple candy and a cup of sweet tea.
She knelt, just like the others, and prayed.
Then, before leaving, she reached out—
and took one lycoris flower with her.
—
The young girl watched in silence.
For the first time…
she moved.
She picked up the apple candy.
It turned to dust in her hand.
She reached for the tea.
It became sand.
She smiled.
—
The wind began to blow.
The red flowers swayed, their petals drifting into the air.
The humming stopped.
And with the wind—
the girl disappeared.
